Chisholm hopeful of Hoops stay
November 18, 2009
Scottish midfielder Ross Chisholm is hopeful of inking a new deal at Shamrock Rovers for the 2010 season.
Chisholm joined the Hoops from Scottish Premier League side Hibernian in July and went on to help Michael O’Neill’s side to second place in the League of Ireland.
With the Irish season now completed, the 21-year-old is a free agent once more – but he is enthusiastic about the prospect of linking up with the club again in the New Year.
He told the Edinburgh News: “I thoroughly enjoyed my spell over there. I stayed over there rather than travelling back and forwards and the club put me up in a house with Craig Sives, who used to be with Hearts before moving to Dublin in the summer. I’d love to go back and, obviously, the chance of playing in Europe would be an added attraction, but at the end of the day it will be Michael O’Neill’s opinion that counts.
“He’ll be wanting to build a squad which he thinks can win the league next season having gone so close this time round. I understand he’s on a coaching course at the moment but we’ll probably talk in the near future to see what his thoughts are.”
