Dundalk secure keeper for 2010 season
November 12, 2009
Dundalk FC have announced that highly-rated goalkeeper Peter Cherrie will remain at the club for the 2010 League of Ireland season.
Cherrie attracted widespread plaudits after joining the Oriel Park club from Clyde in Dundalk.
He quickly dislodged Chris Bennion from the first-team position and was mentioned as a potential target for Bohemians, who are expected to lose star netminder Brian Murphy before the start of next season.
But Dundalk - who are currently without a manager following the departure of Sean Connor - have succeeded in retaining the services of the 26-year-old Scot for a further season.
Contract negotiations with other Lilywhites players are ongoing, with further confirmations anticipated in the coming weeks.
